Okay, podners, I know I am takin' my life in my hands, so am warning you that I have donned my Sunday-Go-To-Meeting Asbestos Britches to state the following:

Velveeta is to Chile con Queso what floor tiles are to Beef Bourguignon! In fact, Velveeta is so far down the food chain as not to resemble food! It's more of a chemistry experiment run amok! I know all you people down there in Texas are just nuts about yer Velveeta and Ro-Tel tomatoes, but that stuff is no more Chile con Queso than I'm the Queen of England.

Now, get over yourselves, and no more posts that even *hint* at Velveeta - jeez, Americans get enough bad raps about our food without inciting this heresy. You think I'm kidding? Then, haul yourself to the 'fridge and take a look at that other stuff you bought called "American cheese. " What's it say right under the words, "American cheese"? "Cheese food," right? Well, whatinheck is "cheese food"? Another chemistry experiment, you ask me.

*Whew* does that feel better. Now, to post *once again* my sainted grandmother's recipe for chile con queso *sans* the V-word:
